Custom Linen Liners
Linen liners are both decorative as well as functional. They provide a subtle architectural element extending the frame width and serve as a practical alternative to matting. Traditionally used with oil paintings, the liner fits between the artwork and the frame. Liners are available in a multitude of colors and profiles.
Pictured here are a few examples of custom linen liners.
First, we have a 3-½” Italian-style white gold frame with a 1-¾” white linen scoop-shaped profile with an additional ¼” white gold fluted fillet. The fluting on the fillet is in the same style and finish of the frame and ties it all together with the liner, creating a traditional and grand aesthetic.
Next we have a beautiful 3-¾” French Louis XV sweep profile in yellow gold with a 1″ natural linen scoop liner. This combination adds a soft subtly that easily blends with the frame.
Lastly we have pictured here a 4″ Dutch frame with intricate basket weave carving and gold ripple lip with a ¾” brown linen bevel liner. The dark frame combined with the dark liner again adds a subtle architectural blending.
